Finally done with big climbs! Wednesday was a 100 mile day! Leaving
San Luis Obisbo ( at 7:00 am) was flat and cool with good roads. Met
several touring cyclist early in the morning but by noon I was pretty
much alone on the climbs up the mountain passes. Had a great breakfast
burritto in Guadalupe. This monster burritto fueled me over two 2,000
ft passes of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Water was definetly needed as
the ride was through the hot interior (90's but felt like 100). I
went through six large water bottles and my clothes were caked in salt
from all the sweat! By 3:00 pm I was back on the coast with a tail
wind and cool breeze, so I logged another 30 miles and ended the day
in Goleta - just north of Santa Barbara.
